Prepare Your Heart
You have surely heard of or had your own Advent Calendar, right? You know. The chocolate filled calendar that you got to open each day of December until December 24th? I know the idea of a small chocolate was supposed to make me think of Jesus but as a child, I just wanted the treat! I couldn’t figure out the connection between chocolate and Jesus, but I knew that I loved the two of them dearly!
As adults, we practice the season of Advent preparing our hearts for the birth of Jesus. If you attend church, your church may light candles each Sunday with a special reading. Advent begins the Sunday closest to November 30th or the fourth Sunday that proceeds Christmas Day. Advent began Sunday, Nov. 28th this year. Most Advent Calendars begin Dec. 1st with treats for the kiddos to open each morning along with a Bible lesson or Scripture reading.
Yellow Rose Jenny Advent 2021 Reading
Day 1, December 1st
Read Isaiah 40: 1-5 together as a family. Spend time praying that each will grow closer to God during this time of Advent.
I’ll be posting each morning a new Bible reading and a short activity. Each should “take” (this isn’t supposed to be a burden but a blessing!) about 10 minutes each day. I pray the time strengthens your heart and you feel closer to Christ each day!
