Leave love notes for your someone special each day in this easy-to-sew banner.
Valentine’s Love-Note Banner
I’ve got an easy-to-sew project for you today that is sure to bring smiles from those you love. All you need is a few pieces of fabric, a sewing machine and 30 minutes of time.
Remember when we used to cut hearts out of paper when we were kids? Folding the paper in half and cutting a half heart? Brings back happy memories, right? Well, that’s what you’ll do with your fabric pieces for our banner.
- Cut Background banner fabric to size you desire for banner. I cut 5″ x 6″ and curved the corners on one end to soften the look.
- Select random fabric for your heart fabrics. I used 2″ x 3″ scraps and 5″ x 5″ scraps to make different sizes of hearts.
- Cut hearts from fabric pieces.
- Randomly arrange your hearts onto your background pieces.
- Sew your hearts onto your background pieces. Notice above where I placed arrows pointing to stop/start position for sewing your hearts into place. You need to leave space at the top of your hearts to tuck your notes into your hearts.
- Make as many background pieces as you’d like your banner to include. You might want 14 and do a love note each day starting Feb. 1st until Feb. 14th. I did 7 so I’ll start placing notes in my hearts on Feb. 8th.
- Grab a piece of rope. It’ll need to be long enough for pretty placement of all of your pieces. Lay out your heart banner pieces in the order you’d like them and lay by your sewing machine.
- Leave at least 8″ of rope at the end before you start sewing your banner pieces in place. The end is what you’ll use to hang your banner once you’re done.
- Fold the top of your banner piece over onto the back and enclose the rope in your fabric. Pin into place and sew the edge of your banner piece down around your rope. Try not to sew onto your rope so your banner piece may slide along your rope.
- Leave about 1″-2″ inches between banner pieces while continuing to sew the banner pieces around the rope.
- Leave at least 8″ of rope at the end when all pieces have been sewn.

So cute! I love the fabrics! I am working on a post with a similar concept, but for towels and pillows and shirts.
