Just a few blocks to complete this week. They were fun blocks though! As a reminder, we’re following Susan Marth’s book, Dresden Quilt Workshop, for the Sew Along, and you’ll need her book for the complete instructions.
Dresden Sampler ~ Are you caught up?
Last week may have seemed like a lot to accomplish. I spent between 2-3 hours last week on the blocks. This week was a much shorter commitment; I worked for a little over an hour on the four blocks.
This week, we’re completing:
- 1 Argyle Retreat (page 31)
- 2 Widget Blocks (page 35)
- 1 Crossroads (page 40)
Argyle Retreat
For the Argyle Retreat, you’ll need to complete 5 tiny dresdens. Easy enough after last week’s marathon!
I used Moda Grunge as my background and chose to make all of my dresdens in the same fabric. I reversed what I’d been making, going with a dark background and lighter dresden blocks. It’ll make a good contrast block for the quilt.
Widget Blocks
Easy to construct! Didn’t take me more than 20 minutes total to complete both blocks!
Crossroads
This too was an easy block to construct. It was really three blocks put together; 2 nine-blocks and one tiny dresden. Again, this one didn’t take me much time to put together. I’ve been happy with my “don’t second guess yourself in your fabric choices” attitude! I figure, I’m starting with gorgeous fabrics, so what could go wrong, right?
Next week we’ll be doing a bit more than this week. Not too much more (only 6 blocks to this week’s 4) but thought you might appreciate the warning.
