I can not believe I didn’t participate in any swaps in 2018! 2019 will be different!
Stay tuned for details!
If you haven’t participated in a block swap before, let me quickly explain. You’ll create a Dresden block in Bonnie & Camille fabrics and you’ll create as many as you want to send in. Whatever number of blocks you send in, you will receive that same number back. It’s a great way to create a quilt with an assortment of fabrics you may not have in your stash.
What is a Dresden block?
The Dresden quilt pattern was one of the most popular quilts made during the 1920s and 30s. It’s one of those blocks that had several names over time, including the Friendship Ring, Grandmother’s Sunburst, Sunflower, Dahlia and Aster. There were also earlier patterns that were Fans, which were not full Dresdens and which have been dated back to the 1800s!
Will you provide a pattern?
I will be doing a few videos showcasing a few different ways to make dresdens. There’s Chubby, Pointy, Squaty – it’s like the 7 Dwarfs around here.
I hope you’ll plan on joining in on the swap!
Keep your eyes open for sign-ups on my Instagram and Facebook accounts after the Christmas holiday. I’d love to have lots of us participate!
